2010 Has It Out For Me...

...I am convinced!

So far, 2010 has not been the best year of my life thus far. While I am aware it could be worse, I am also aware it could be much better. Please pardon me while I take a few moments to recap these lovely events I have endured in the past 4 months.

Here's what I've come up with so far (in chronological order):

1. Bye-Bye Brakes

Just days after I spent the time to re-vamp my budget in efforts to pay off my vehicle, my brakes decided they had enough. At least, I hadn't made it to the bridge just yet... I could of killed my self or someone else...eeek! Mind you, I was just getting off work, heading home. Over $800 later, I got my wheels back!

2. Flat Tire

Of course I just couldn't dodge that nail in the road. My tire just had to gobble it up. This time I was driving around at work, on the clock. Sure enough they were able to convince me I needed not only one but two brandy-spanking-shiny new tires...$200 later...

3. Freezer Shit The Bed

...and the rest of the refrigerator is now beginning to seek revenge. Read about it here: R.I.P My Dear Freezer

4. Apartment Flooded

Please refer to this post as I am too lazy to ramble on about it for the millionth time.

5. Changes In My Workplace

While change is inevitable, it does not mean I have to like it! Several of my co-workers are leaving us! Many to better-improve their own personal situations...but still...they shall be missed (and my work load be effected by this). But good for them!

6. I Don't Fancy Damage To My Rear

To my car that is. Or any other 'rear' for that matter. Yep. At work ( and on the clock, again) I was rear-ended by an older gentleman on April 15th. Thank goodness for insurance is all I can say. Over $4000 in damages, a rental car, and inconvenience...I am lucky enough to have escaped injury free! I will probably be driving this rental car around for another week at least.

And it's only April!

I use to believe bad things came in threes. Boy was I wrong!

I totally get that things could be much worse. I believe it is healthy and necessary to vent, rant, and rave at times. This is where I get to do just that. Thank you for listening.

For The Love of Comments

Approximately 2.5 hours ago I gleefully learned that I had comments residing on a few of my posts. News to me! Thank you for letting me in on the big secret Blogger! Complaining aside, I do thank you for the love! Had I been aware of my new post 'tenants' I would have stalked your blogs with even more comments...maybe.

Flood: Update

It has been a minute since I've last posted. Truly sorry! I was supposed to be a better blogger...rememeber?! Clearly I forgot.

Well I am back...I think.

It is so nice to have our apartment back in order since the flooding! Brian will be finishing up the last bits of clean up tomorrow before going into work at night. There are a lot of dishes to wash and he wants to get our big 50-60 (whatever it is) gallon fish tank up and running. We did end up bringing our fish to a local pet store on 'vacation' as we were starting to lose some fish due to the lack of power and added stress levels. While this is unfortunate, we keep reminding ourselves that it could have been worse. Hopefully you will never have to hear me rattle on about this 100 year flood (or whatever it is they are calling it) anymore, ever again.

However, my fridge is another story...

Happy Easter & Apartment Update

Happy Easter!

The Easter Bunny is always very good to my family even when your in your 20's!

It's definitely a nice pick-me-up with everything we have to do with our water-logged apartment.
Brian & I talked more about the wet rugs last night and decided we are going to rip the rugs up and have new rugs installed. This is the only way we can get the stink and wet out of this apartment. So we decided to bite bullet and cough up the expense for new wall to wall carpeting and installation. I doubt we will pull the rugs out today as Brian is still working and we have dinner reservations with his family tonight. My guess is that we will get the rugs out tomorrow, let the concrete and what not dry, and then install the new! I'm really looking forward to escaping my bedroom! EVERYTHING is in here!

So anyway, I hope you and your families have a great Easter Sunday! Enjoy it!

My Apartment Flooded!

As you may know, the east coast had recently been slammed with buckets and buckets of rain. The east coast happens to be where I reside; in the itty bitty state of Rhode Island to be exact. Unfortunately my teeny weeny basement floor apartment fell victim to those aforementioned buckets of rain. My kitchen and living room have flooded. Thankfully my bedroom and bathroom sit higher and therefore remained untouched. I must say we are some of the lucky ones though. We are still wet-vacing the water from the carpet but it is no longer as bad as it was. There is no more standing water in my apartment. The rugs are squishy still though and stink of wet carpet smell. Brian needed to sleep as he has to work 3rd shift tonight so we stopped the wet vacing for the evening. We did place a dehumidifer in the middle of the wet rooms, hopefully this will help to draw out some of the moisture. In good time things will fall back into place. It could of been worse. There are many people whose ENTIRE homes are flooded and declared unliveable. I am one of the lucky ones. Please bear with me as I try to return my living space to normalcy.
